A man driving a car through a construction zone in Tulsa at a high rate of speed was killed when he hit a construction vehicle.  The construction zone accident happened on a Tulsa highway last night.

Around 11 p.m. Tuesday, Tulsa police say a black Dodge Neon was driving about 80 mph through the construction zone on northbound Highway 169 just north of 31st Street.

The Neon hit the back of a construction vehicle and spun it around 180 degrees. A Ford Taurus then clipped the corner of the construction vehicle and swerved into the center wall.

The driver of the Neon died at the scene of the accident.  The driver of the Taurus was hurt and taken to a local hospital for treatment.  The construction vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the accident.  The police are investigating the accident and it is unknown why the victim did not slow down through the construction zone.
