Fatal crash involving parked semi truck

A man driving a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix crashed into a parked semi tractor-trailer on Thursday just after 3 a.m. at a rest park ramp off I-65 in Jasper County.

Investigators say that the man driving the car drove off the ramp and crashed directly into the parked truck from behind, causing the blunt force trauma that killed him.

The truck was reportedly parked illegally and its driver, who was asleep in the truck at the time of the crash, was cited for the parking violation.
