FDA Issues Recall on Bella Cucina "Death by Chocolate" Cookies with Walnuts

Bella Cucina of Atlanta, Georgia has issued a recall on certain lots of the company's "Death by Chocolate" cookies. Some of these lots of cookies were commingled with walnuts, although the bags incorrectly state that these cookies contain no nut products.

The public should be advised, especially those with life-threatening allergies to walnuts and other types of tree nuts, that certain stores are carrying improperly labeled bags of "Death by Chocolate" cookies. Please see the above link for the exact stores and lot numbers.

Bella Cucina markets Death by Chocolate cookies in 6oz. packages. The recalled cookies were made on June 14, 2007, and July 5, 2007, for a total of 36 cases at 12 units per case. Nowhere on the ingredient list were walnuts ever listed.
