An Associated Press report from Monday says that at least eight traffic-related deaths occurred over the weekend in motor vehicle accidents on Alabama's rural roads.

The deaths include an Etowah County couple killed in a one-car crash in Bessemer, a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Millbrook, and a man who died in a one-car accident in Macon County.

Additional fatal accidents were reported in Lamar, Shelby, Baldwin and Marengo counties.

This terrible weekend on the roads reminds us to always drive with maximum alertness and minimum distractions, and to always buckle up.
