One month ago Alabama basketball player Jermareo Davidson experienced the tragic loss of his girlfriend in a car crash on I-20 near Atlanta. Now the star center's life has been turned upside down as he deals with the guilt and grief associated with the loss.

This is a very personal example of how a motor vehicle accident can change the lives of those left behind. A split-second mistake can cause a lifetime of anguish and pain. By hearing the sad stories of those left behind when they lose a loved one in an accident, we can exercise our compassion, and we can take steps to be more careful when we get behind the wheel of a car, truck or motorcycle.
