A comment on FDA begins posting list of drugs with potential safety issues on its web site

Thank you for your comment! It is encouraging to see this step in the right direction. I am hoping the FDA will continue to develop this idea to provide more comprehensive information on its web site, and to make it easier for consumers and physicians to find out when a drug has been removed from concern, or concerns have been validated as legitimate risks.

This FDA effort is a good thing. It creates a bit more transparency and provides a glimpse into undesirable drug effects, and issues that manufacturers can address.
A comment on Getting ready for Gustav

Yes, we are very grateful that the impact of Gustav was more minor than that of Katrina. We continue to pray for the safety of people all along the Gulf Coast as they prepare to return home and survey the damage, that they have strength and courage and are kept safe from further harm.

A comment on Alabama among worst in nursing home deficiency reporting

The problem is not the amount of the fine. It is the horrible job that all the states are doing in inspecting the facilities. Most nursing home's have been successful in reducing significantly any fines they have received. Increasing fines is only one tool in fighting nursing home abuse.

A comment on New web site seeks to raise mesothelioma awareness

I don't think I cast any real aspersions on law firms or your particular motives. I only pointed out that such sites divert searchers from the genuine nonprofits devoted to aiding patients. I do appreciate your efforts to ban asbestos and the awareness you promote, although the latter could be accomplished quite simply without all the bells and whistles. In view of your adamance that you are providing help to victims, I would ask what portion of your profits (and the large share law firms take from any monies won) are donated to meso research? That's the kind of help we patients are looking for. No amount of money from legal awards will buy me back the lifetime I stand to lose to meso.

A comment on New web site seeks to raise mesothelioma awareness

I am tired of the attitude that just because a law firm is involved in a project like this, that it is inherently bad and wrong. Our attorneys talk every day to people who are suffering with the diagnosis of mesothelioma. For more than five years, long before the creation of this web site, the firm has been an active proponent of a full ban of asbestos in the United States. This web site DOES direct people to non-profit agencies like the Lung Cancer Alliance and Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and other agencies that share the mission of establishing an effective method for early detection, expanding research for a cure and eventually eradicating mesothelioma.
